The EU reduces the area under winter rape
In the EU, drought has led to a reduction in the area under winter rice. Experts predict that this will lead to a decline in crop production.
Drought during the winter sowing season in major rapeseed producing countries - Germany, France and Britain - has forced European farmers to reduce the sowing area of this crop, reports SuperAgronom referring to Reuters.
"Even at such an early stage it is clear that the next year, the EU may face a reduction in the yield of rape," - said in the material.
The Terres Inovia Institute of Oilseeds predicts that France, which ranked first in rape production in the EU, has cut about one third of the area under this crop.
According to the forecast of the German Union of Oil and High Protein Crop Manufacturers (UFOP), the area under rape, according to autumn sowing, reached 1 million hectares in the Federal Republic of Germany, which is 18% less than in 2017. It is noted that it is possible to sow 100 thousand hectares.
According to preliminary estimates of CRM AgriCommodities, in Britain rape sown 540-550 thousand hectares, which is 8-10% less than last year. If this forecast is valid, the area under the rape will reach the minimum value for the last 15 years.
According to analysts of Sparks Polska Vojtek Sabaransky, in Poland, sowing rape for harvest next year is likely to remain at this year's level - 710 thousand hectares.
